PJ Harveyの10枚目のスタジオ・アルバム I Inside the Old Year Dying は、全英1位のアルバム The Hope Six Demolition Project に続く、7年ぶりのリリースとなる。長年のクリエイティブなコラボレーターであるJohn Parish と Floodと共にレコーディングされたこのアルバムで、PJ Harveyは、人生の相反するものの間の空間、そして最近の歴史と古代の過去の間の空間に、どこか音の宇宙を築いている。聖書のイメージやシェイクスピアへの言及が散見されるが、これらの区別はすべて、最終的に深遠な高揚感と救済をもたらすものに解消される。
